Urban Spools Sewing Lounge

Are you in Dallas Texas? If so I am so jealous of you! I had the wonderful opportunity to recently redesign the website for a fantastic sewing lounge called Urban Spools. Urban Spools offers sewing lessons for beginner to advanced in their Dallas, Texas Sewing Lounge. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Color Pop Pillow Class[/caption]

Urban Spools is a continuation of Michelle Kitto’s lifelong love affair with textiles and sewing. Creating with her hands has always been a hobby, a form of therapy, and a passion for Michelle. She prefers functional art that brightens the home and expresses the maker’s personality. Urban Spools is a dream nearly 30 years in the making for Michelle. This year has been really exciting for Urban Spools, they have moved into a new location which has two classroom spaces and plenty of space to host your events. You can enroll in a myriad of classes, stop by for a Friday Night Sew In, host a party or shower, or just escape to the lounge for a break from your own sewing room.

The Classes

Michelle is building her class list and has 4 teachers including herself. You can take classes on basic sewing, quilting, clothes making, bag making, and the list goes on. These are a few classes I would be taking or enrolling my daughter in if I didn't live in Arizona… [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="466"] Washi Dress Class at Urban Spools with Pattern by Made by Rae[/caption] [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Kids Summer Sewing Camp at Urban Spools. This is a 4 day class for children to learn the basics of sewing and includes all the supplies![/caption]

Machine Quilting

One of the other services that Urban Spools offers is custom long arm machine quilting. Michelle has been quilting for over 20 years and is now quilting quilts for customers on her Handi Quilter machine. If you are the type like myself who absolutely loves the quilting step, but hesitates making larger quilts then you can take a Introduction to Long Arm Quilting class which will teach you everything you need to know about the Handi Quilter Long Arm Machine and then you can rent the machine to quilt your quilts on it! EKKK! That is so exciting I am really so jealous of you Texas friends! I told Michelle that she needs to come to Phoenix, Arizona and setup a satellite Urban Spools so I can have some where to hang out and quilt on a long arm :) Meanwhile I have to live vicariously through all you lucky ones in Dallas!
