Bombay Tote Reveal + a Special Fabric Giveaway // Legacy Collection by Angela Walters

This week I had the wonderful opportunity to play with a beautiful fat eighth bundle of Angela Walters new fabric collection, Legacy.

The Legacy collection was inspired by the legacy bestowed upon artist Angela Walters. Angela dedicates this collection to her beloved Grandfather. These designs range from new quilting designs to those handed down.

The colors used in Legacy are not my usual color choices but as I worked with the collection they grew on me so much that now I am absolutely in love with them. There isn’t one print in the entire collection I don’t like and believe me, that is rarely the case. Usually, there is a print or two in collections I am not too keen on, but not this time!

The Bombay Tote

Finding the perfect project to feature this beautiful collection was a tough one. A few months back, I shared with you the original Bombay Tote I made for my friend Amanda. The Bombay Tote is a pattern I plan to teach in an upcoming online Pile O’ Fabric bag making class. The tote is very versatile. You can use any pieced block for the upper portion of the bag, which makes it perfect for quilt-as-you-go blocks or even orphan quilt blocks.

For this version of the Bombay Tote I used the Bloomin’ Quilt-As-You-Go technique by Cori at Let’s Eat Grandpa for the upper panel. I only had a fat eighth bundle of the Legacy collection so I used two coordinating prints from my stash for the interior as well as a Moda Crossweave for the bag straps, bottom, and facing.

As I have said before, with each bag I make I fall even more in love with bag making. It was a wonderful pleasure to have the chance to play with this beautiful fabric collection!

Legacy will be shipping to fabric shops this month. The entire collection will be available for purchase at the Fat Quarter Shop.
