Quilting the Instagram Quilt // In the "Studio"

This post is part of an ongoing video series called In the "Studio". Step into my sewing "Studio" and see what I have been sewing. Also link up your current works in progress. See all episodes. This week for In the "Studio" episode #3, I continued to work on my Cross Stitch Instagram quilt by machine quilting a cross hatch pattern. Then I trimmed the quilt.

Next week I will finish my Cross Stitch Instagram Quilt with machine binding and you will get to watch! What are you working on this week In the "Studio"?

    Hey Alyssa,

do you use a normal writing frixxion pen to mark?

I love them to write and take notes in my agenda because you can read them a lot better than pencil and they are as easily removed – but I would have never concidered using them on fabric. You use the ironing-heat to remove the ink again?

    Really love this series!

    Best regards

Yes, I used the orange Frixon Pen to mark the quilt. I actually took a video of me marking it then accidentally deleted it, bummer. What I have found is it comes off light colors perfect on occasion darker colors will have a little very light white line where you had the pen. But it is my go to marking pen when sewing for sure!! Test it out you may love it!

I’ve really been enjoying this little videos of yours Alyssa. It definitely gives a little better insight to your sewing worls. Never thought having a machine that cut my threads was that big of a deal. But after watching this you can bet my next machine will have that option.

Hey Mel – Just thought I’d let you know that I use my frixxon pen on everything I sew that needs a marking. I’ve used the red, black and blue and I’ve never had a problem with it coming out of my fabric with the iron. Best invention EVER!
