What is the Sewing Room?

The Sewing Room is an extension of the blog, Pile O' Fabric by Alyssa Lichner. Here at the Sewing Room you can signup for online sewing courses that are taken through an interactive learning platform. More courses are scheduled to come out in 2014.

Who should take Sewing Room courses?

Pile O' Fabric Sewing Room courses are great for all sewists, whether you are a quilter or not. Courses vary in difficulty among Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

How long does it take to complete a course?

The length of each course offered will vary. For example, a “Block of the Month” typically lasts a full year with lesson's being posted every month. However, all courses can be taken at your own pace. Once you're enrolled you will have access to the course forever!

Do I have to buy any additional supplies?

You will need the necessary fabric and supplies for the course. The basic supply kits include some of the specialty supplies that will be needed during the course of the BOM. Supply kits for the course can be purchased in the shop. It is assumed that you have the needed sewing tools such as a Sewing Machine, Iron, Pressing Board, Rotary Cutter, Cutting Mat, Scissors, Pins, Matching Thread, Seam Ripper, Basting Pins, Etc.

Once I’ve completed a step in a course, can I go back and review the content again?

Yes. Once a course is purchased, it is yours to access and review at any time forever even if you have completed the steps.

Are there assignments?

Yes. To help reduce your amount of WIP's (works in progress), each course contains various assignments which may include sharing progress photos, discussion questions, etc. These tasks are optional, however, you will get the most benefit from the course if you participate completely.
