Well it's time to share another finished Skill Builder Block of the Month quilt! I think I say this every time I finish a quilt, but this was the most fun and challenging quilt that I have made and designed yet. Out of all the things I do at Pile O' Fabric my utmost favorite is the Skill Builder Block of the Month. I enjoy seeing an idea I have come to life, not only in my version of the quilt but in your versions too. I also really love the quilt-as-you-go format of the Skill Builder Block of the Month. I have very painful joint issues so there is no way I would ever be able to machine quilt as densely as I have on the BOM quilts if I were quilting an entire quilt top. Quilting one little block at a time eliminates any drag, allowing you to make dense beautiful designs with ease.
This year's Block of the Month was a bit different because of my unexpected 8+ month break during my complicated pregnancy, but I hope that it was still a really fun and educational experience for everyone who participated. I am planning for a 2017 Skill Builder BOM, however in all future Skill Builder's you will have access to every single lesson from the start of the BOM and can optionally work month-by-month or all in one week if you like.
I put together a quick video to give you a peek into the process of making the Technicolor Galaxy Quilt. The video is fast forwarded and very fast so it is not meant to be a tutorial or for instruction by any means, but I thought it would be neat for anyone interested in the process.
You can join any of the past Skill Builder Block of the Month online classes at anytime. You will be given access to all the pdf lessons, videos, and Facebook Group. Sign up at: pileofabric.com/skill-builder-bom
