Instant Gratification Projects and Pin It, Sew It!

This weekend we celebrated my Daughters 3rd birthday. I can't believe how fast these 3 years have gone and I am so so thankful to be called mommy and I love my little Gwenyth so much! I wanted something cute to wear to her little birthday gathering and came across the cutest skirt.

Since I begin sewing I have been following Maureen Cracknell Handmade. Maureen is a very talented woman and has inspired me so much in my sewing adventures. Just a few days ago she posted a tutorial for a really cute drawstring skirt. I often pin tutorials I see and never get around to making them, but after my recent shorts project for shorts on line I have had clothing sewing fever. So this tutorial not only got pinned, but I decided to actually make it!

Well let me tell you, I love instant gratification projects like this! The skirt took me less than an hour and was very fun to make. I decided to make my appliqué a little flower similar the flowers in the print fabric. Everything came together real quick, but I did make one slight mistake :) My print fabric is upside down, Whoops. I didn't even notice it till later, but hey it looks right from my point of view. Once I was done I decided to work on my new hand quilting skills and added some embroidery to my flower.

After this project it got me thinking. I really want to commit to making more of the simple, instant gratification, practical projects I'm always pinning on Pinterest. It is so rewarding when your done and usually these items are the most practical items. I decided to create a Pinterest board called Pin It, Sew It! and it will be a place for me to collect items I SERIOUSLY plan on making. I am going to try and commit myself to making a few of these items each month. I figure its time to stop pining and start sewing!

  • Sewing Machine Cover
  • Sewing Caddy
  • New Diaper Bag
  • Grab and Go Traveler Bag
  • Grocery Bag Holder

I Challenge you! Pin It, Sew It!
