Hand Stitched Felt Needle Book Tutorial
Every 3rd Saturday of the month I attend the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild meetings. At our July meeting during show and tell I shared my projects from Hand Stitched Camp by
Stitched in Color. One of which was my felt needle book. After the meeting I was asked if I could create a tutorial for the needle book from class for everyone to do together at the next meeting. Since this was part of my paid class I could not, but with permission from Rachel at
Stitched in Color I was able to create a tutorial for a needle book that was different than the original. This Saturday was our monthly Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild meeting and I prepared this tutorial for it.

We had a wonderful time chatting and working on our needle books. It is so much fun to see how everyone adds their own little touches to their work. I was talking so much I wasn't able to get photos of everyone's, but here are a few photos I snapped real quick.

Needle Book Kit Giveaway

I put together Needle Book Kit's for the meeting that included all the supplies you would need to create a needle book. I had one leftover and decided I would give it away to one lucky Pile O' Fabric reader!

The Kit Includes (GIVEAWAY CLOSED)
- Premium Synthetic Felt pieces pre-cut and ready to use
- Piece of Alexander Henry Fabric pre-cut for interior
- 2 felt squares for flower appliqué
- 2 skeins of DMC embroidery floss
- 1 skein of DMC pearl cotton
- 1 embroidery needle
- 1 medium button
The Tutorial

This needle book is a great companion for your projects on the go. I like to use mine to hold my embroidery scissors, a few cards of embroidery floss, loose floss and threads, pins, needles, thimbles, and a small embroidery hoop. It finishes at 5” x 6” so it will fit nicely in a small bag or purse. This needle book can be made completely by hand stitching without a machine. Since the tutorial is a bit long, I have decided to attach a PDF download, which you can either view online or print off your computer. There are 8 templates for different applique options.

Enjoy! I'f you have any questions just let me know!
