Intro To Curve Piecing

Last week we talked about cutting our fabric, and today I would like to introduce curve piecing. We will be learning how to piece curves with pins, without pins, and with a curve master foot. So for the next few weeks stop on by here at Pile O' Fabric to enter the Groovy Giveaway and for a link to the wonderful tutorials. I decided to do a little curve piecing experimentation. I cut out a few extra curves to play with, which I strongly encourage you to do as well. On each piece I tried out a different method.

Cut out extra templates to practice Piecing Curves with Pins

I was having a little trouble pinning, an now after Jacquie's tutorial I know exactly why! Pin from the center folks, duh Alyssa!

Piecing Curves with No Pins

I also tried piecing with no pins. Very thrilling, to say the least!

Piecing Curves with Curve Master

And with my curve master presser foot!

Tried a different method on each curve.

My curves could definetely be better, but It wasn't to difficult and quite fun actually!

Piecing Curves with Pins : TUTORIAL

Conquer Your Fear

Our very first curves piecing tutorial today, is by the amazing Jacquie Gering. Jacquie is the co-author of Quilting Modern, and blog's at Tallgrass Prairie Studio. I have been following Jacquie since I began quilting, before Pile O' Fabric, and I have learned so much from her, she has been a great inspiration to me.

If you haven't already seen Quilting Modern I highly recomend it. Jacquie and Katie introduce improvisational techniques that I have never seen, but are so important and will really change your quilting for the better. I want to thank Jacquie so much for offering to take the time to prepare this this tutorial for us Groovy Quilters. If you will be going to QuiltCon you can catch one of Jacquie's wonderful classes. She will be teaching a class on Machine Piecing Hexagons! So before you head over to the tutorial I'd like to introduce today's Groovy Sponsor and Giveaway.
