Growing up, I was introduced to quilting at an early age but none of it really stuck until I began scrapbooking after my first son was born. One day I entered a contest for Basic Grey to use fabric in a greeting card and won a jelly roll of their new Sultry fabric line. I decided to get out my old sewing machine and whip up a quilt for an old friend.
All that’s history now because I dropped scrapbooking like a hot potato and started quilting and building a stash. It was while working on my stash that I found there just weren’t that many places to find modern fabric online. The idea hit me that I could start a shop that would cater to modern quilters and that’s what I did. One thing I noticed as a shopper (boy was I was good at that) was that you could purchase fat quarters at brick & mortar fabric shops but not online. So I decided to offer fat quarters and not just fat quarter sets but single cut fat quarters. I may be the only shop that offers 175 Kona Cotton Solids available for purchase as individual fat quarters without limits. Yes, I’ll sell a single fat quarter if that’s what my customer requests. I like to think one of the things that sets Marmalade Fabrics apart from other large online retailers is my personal care for each and every customer and the fabric they have chosen to purchase. I try very hard to ship orders within 24 hours of purchase. Sometimes, orders are shipped the same day. I cut generously and pack everything with care. Orders arrive in water-proof bags because one soggy package of fabric is too many! I offer personal and reliable customer service by matching colors in various lines or calculating the fabric needed for quilts and projects. I really do love to help in the creative process by assisting my customers with their fabric needs. At least I feel apart of the quilting community even if my quilting time and number of quilts finished has been considerably reduced. I’m an active member of the Modern Quilt Guild and Marmalade Fabrics is a proud sponsor of QuiltCon. You can read more on my site.
