This is week eleven of the Totally Groovy QAL! Last week we got to check out Angela Walters new book In The Studio, and received some groovy quilting advise from Angela as well.
We are drawing near to the end of the Totally Groovy QAL, how are you doing? Are you making progress?
I worked on my quilt last night and today. I finished my quilt backing and basted the quilt. I will say I think out of all the steps in the quilting process I pretty much HATE basting! I have tried quite a few different basting techniques and still despise it.
Do you ever have days where you're just in the zone and don't wan't to stop? That's how I am today, so this groovy post is going to be real short, because I want to get back to working on my quilt.
I have been really soaking in what I have learned from Angela's new book, her advice on her blog, and from a Craftsy class I am taking from her, and I am still pondering ideas for the quilting. My goal is to get a HUGE chunk of the quilting done this weekend if not all of it. So I will post some progress pictures on FB, Twitter, and Flickr as I go.
Next week submissions open for final quilts, we will talk about what the criteria is for entering and how we will be choosing winners.
Check out some of the groovy progress others are making.
If you have some photos be sure to drop on by the Flickr Group and share with us, I would love to see!
Heather owner of Lark Cottons has a background in architectural design and a love of all things crafty. Coming from a family of quilters and seamstresses, she has many fond memories of handmade quilts, clothing, toys, and even Barbie outfits (Think 70s retro style in psychedelic prints. They were awesome!).
Heather is located in Portland, Oregon and Lark Cottons was established in early 2010, as an off-shoot to a handmade stitched-goods shop on etsy, where Heather discovered that being surrounded by lots and lots of beautiful fabric made her very happy. A year later, Heather relocated the shop to big cartel, and in spring 2012 to its current site, with room to grow and more features. Heather strives to provide a wide assortment of high quality quilting fabrics with a fresh modern aesthetic, and she is continually updating the shop with new inventory.
Heather at Lark Cottons is giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to her shop to one lucky winner! Shipping charges still apply so keep that in mind when entering internationally.
