When I was quilting I switched back and forth between my walking foot and free motion quilting foot. Between each flower I quilted a diamond shape filled with pebbles and wavy lines. I had planned to quilt almost every square inch, but I decided to make it more of a comfy fluffy quilt because I know adding really dense quilting can take away some of the comfort factor.
For this quilt I used curved bias binding. I had begun making the binding when my friend Bari J. mentioned on Instagram she was watching a 5 part video by Sharon Schamber on Curved Bias Binding and the timing could not have been any better. I already use a method very similar to Sharons for my regular binding, but in this video tutorial Sharon points out a few tips that were VERY helpful for curved binding.
One of the crucial steps to a beautiful curved binding is using inward miters, which in the quilting world I have never heard of until this week. Sharon shows you how to stitch the inward miters by hand in the tutorial. I started off doing the first four by hand, but my hands were killing me so I gave it a try on machine and it was a success! I am very glad I challenged myself to try another new technique and will definitely use it often.
