My go to thread

As most of you know I sew exclusively with Aurifil threads. A while back a gave a full review on the threads and why I like them. My machine and I love the quality of Aurifil thread and I especially love that there are over 252 colors of thread to match nicely with my Kona Cotton collection! In fact for those of you Kona Cotton fans, a few months back Aurifil threads sent me a list of Aurifil to Kona colors and I spruced it up into an easy chart, which you can view here. Follow That Thread also carries the Aurifil Color Charts which are very handy when you are looking for a specific color. I use mine on a regular basis!

My thread choices

For piecing I use a jumbo cone of Aurifil 50wt #2021. The 50wt is super thin which takes the bulk out of your seam allowance and keeps everything nice an flat! For quilting I prefer to use Aurifil 40wt usually matching whatever color fabric I am quilting on. Or if you are quilting an all over design #2600 blends really nicely.

For those of you looking for a place to start with Aurifil than here are my top choices for regular use.

• 50wt #2309 or #2021 for piecing light fabrics
• 50wt #2692 for piecing dark fabrics

For those of you who love to embroider you must try using Aurifil 12wt thread. If you usually use about three strands of embroidery floss, just cut three strands of 12wt thread, it works beautifully for embroidery with very little tangles!
