Block Lesson #10 // Skill Builder BOM

Thank you for waiting patiently for Block Lesson #10. In this lesson we will be practicing foundation paper piecing again, making the Strip Triangle and Starlight quilt blocks. strip-triangle-block-ad   starlight-block-ad Before you begin here are some very important things to take note of:
  • Prior experience with foundation paper piecing will be needed to make these blocks. Refer to Block Lesson #5 for a review of how to foundation paper piece.
  • The Layout Guides included with this lesson are NOT templates. They’re helpful guides with measurements, but not the actual templates. Print each of them out to have by your side as you piece your blocks.
  • The templates DO NOT include the seam allowance. You must always remember to accommodate the allowance by sewing into the seam allowances at least a ¼” (off all edges of the template). See the diagram to the right. The benefit of NOT including the seam allowance on template is that when we piece sections of a template together there is no paper causing extra bulk in the seam allowance.
