What I've Been Up To

Today I was looking at my recent blog posts and realized its been weeks since I took time to share about what I've been up to. Summertime is usually a very busy time for my family, but even more so this year.

This last month I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach three local classes. I taught a Scrap Buster Class and Cross Stitch Quilting class. My students seemed to have a really fun time and its been a pleasure to see their super cute Cross My Heart quilts showing up on Instagram. 2014-07-04 07.25.28 2014-07-04 07.25.34 2014-07-04 07.25.402014-07-04 07.25.50 2014-07-04 07.26.122014-07-04 07.26.312014-07-04 07.26.57 2014-07-04 07.37.10

Trunk Show

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Delightful Quilters Guild in Scottsdale, Arizona for a trunk show. These women were so inspiring, friendly and supportive. I was thankful to have my friend Danny along to help me hold quilts, take photos and tote my stuff around. trunkshowWhen I do a trunk show I like to share a little about myself and my passion, I bring along a bunch of my favorite quilts and share about how they were made, I also like to do a little technique demonstration. For this trunk show by request I demonstrated the Cross Stitch Quilt block.

Supplies and Supply Kits

Besides teaching I have also been working on a lot of website work for clients as well as the Pile O' Fabric website. You may have noticed a slight change, I merged the Sewing Room with Pile O' Fabric. I did this so that it is hopefully easier to find and browse my classes, patterns, supplies and blog. Over the last few months I have slowly been adding supply kits for sale on Pile O' Fabric. I really love encouraging you all to try new techniques and I thought it would make techniques more approachable if I put together little kits that have instructions for a specific technique and all the supplies needed. I plan to keep adding more technique based pattern/supply kits so keep an eye out. Here are some of the kits I have for sale so far: [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Hand Embroidery Kit - This kit includes everything you need to stitch your first hand embroidery project! It includes access to the Easy Stitch Sampler video where you will learn the running stitch, backstitch, blanket stitch, threaded running stitch, split stitch, stem stitch vine stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and french knot.[/caption] [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="493"]

Machine Applique Starter Kit - This kit includes everything you need to try out machine applique. Each kit includes step-by-step picture instructions for either the Liberty Floral or Modern Beauty quilt blocks.

Stabilize and Conquer Kit - If you have followed any of my patterns, read any of my tutorials or taken one of my classes you may already know how much I love stabilizing in quilting.[/caption] I have also started selling some supplies/notions which I use and cannot live without. You find me talking about these supplies in my tutorials and patterns quite often.

Pressing Board - I assemble these pressing boards myself. They're lightweight, portable, pinnable and perfect for accurate piecing.

Fine Glue Tips - I now sell Fine Glue Tips from Purple Daisies. These are my go to tips for Glue Basting. I also have Quilter's Dream Batting, Rulers, Needles, Thread and more! I hope you all have a fantastic 4th of July weekend!
