Love of Crochet Throw Pillow

I have finished my first crochet project! Around Valentines I bought some Paintbox Simply Aran yarn in Lipstick, Ballet Pink, Bubble Gum Pink, and Stormy Grey. Being new to the fiber world I'm still trying different brands, weights, and fibers of yarns. It's been fun to experiment with different ones. The Simply Aran is 100% acrylic and pretty soft, not itchy or fake feeling.

Feeling in the Valentine mood I decided to give Red Agape's Granny Heart block a try. This was my first time learning different color changing techniques. After making two of the heart blocks I burned out and switched to making basic Granny square blocks. I shared a time lapse video on Instagram while I was making the blocks.

After just four blocks total I decided to stop and turn them into a fun throw pillow for my daughters bed.

I crocheted a large granny square for the pillow back. I tried researching ways to make a crochet removable pillow sham that could be washed, but I had such a hard time finding tutorials on zippered, buttoned, or envelope closer. I ended up making a pillow form with Kona Cotton in Silver and joining the front and back of the pillow along the edge with a scallop stitch.

I finished the pillow off with one of my new leather labels (I have lots of fun leather and wood labels similar to this for sale in my shop) and that's a wrap on my first Crochet project!
