  • Making a Concerto Crib Quilt

This weekend I finished my first quilt of the entire year. I used to bust out about 12-15 quilts a year, but this is my first completed quilt in 2015! If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you may have seen all the videos and photos I posted as I worked on a Concerto crib quilt for a baby gift. But, for those of you who did not see the posts I figured it would be nice to share my progress making the Concerto quilt here on the blog too. First, I starched, pressed, cut all my fabric, and laid...

  • Blanche Barrel Bag // "In the Studio" + Review

Today, I would like to share a bag I made using the Blanche Barrel Bag pattern by Alicia Wietholter for Swoon Patterns. All of the bags in the Swoon Pattern lineup have a really professional, "store bought" look and shape. I don't make and sell items often, but for those of you who do, you will love Swoon Patterns. They give you full permission to make and sell their bags! If you're looking for some Swoon bag inspiration then you must check out Erin Morris (@diedelbughandmade), she makes and sells bags using Swoon Patterns and they're so beautiful.   Since it has been quite a while since...

  • Cutting and Piecing the Concerto Quilt // In the "Studio"

This week I have been making another version of the Concerto Quilt pattern, but this time I am using printed fabric. This is the quilt my students are making in my Beginner Modern Quilting Class and I am making a sample along with them. The fabric choice is a little out of my comfort zone, but I wanted something super fun and child friendly since I am making it in a crib size. For this weeks In the "Studio" Episode 11, I am cutting and glue basting the fabrics to begin piecing the Concerto quilt.   I have all my rows glue...

  • Playing with Hexagons // In the "Studio" + Giveaway

This week I had the sudden urge to play with some hexagons and do some English Paper Piecing. I didn't have a specific project in mind, I just wanted to simply play! I figured this would make a super fun In the "Studio" video for episode #10. Watch and see how I glue baste my hexagons and the different ways you can stitch them together. Using this technique for English Paper Piecing is really great because the pre-cut hexagons are not cut from your typical card stock paper, they are actually a leave-in applique foundation. This means no more spending time taking...

  • Penelope Dress // In the "Studio" + Review

Apparently last weekend was dress fest around our home. Yesterday I shared the Clara Dress I made for myself and it was only fair that my beautiful daughter get a new dress too! While shopping at our local quilt shop last week she picked out the Penelope dress pattern. They had an adorable version displayed on a mannequin and she wanted to take it home with her. When we got home she dug through my stash helping me pick out the fabrics, she chose a Cocoon print by Valori Wells and Cotton Couture in Lipstick. I decided it would be fun to share a...

  • Cross Stitch Instagram // In the "Studio"

I was thinking the other day about how cool it would be to sit in someones sewing room and watch their process as they work on a project. Outside of Instagram I am notoriously bad at sharing about my works in progress and I thought it would be fun to share what I am up to during the week, but instead of showing you through pictures how about through quick videos! As usual I had to turn this into a blog series and give it a cheesy name, In the "Studio", I don't actually have a sewing studio just a small...
