Build your skills as a quilter and sewer while making the Technicolor Galaxy Quilt, a modern quilt-as-you-go style quilt project. This was an online class taught by Alyssa Lichner of Pile O' Fabric in 2015 and was formatted as a monthly block by block project. All have the lessons from the class were compiled into a 119 page PDF.
All of the monthly lessons have been complied into a 119 page PDF. The lessons include step-by-step detailed piecing instructions as well as video tutorials (PDF has links to videos) teaching you the different techniques used in the Technicolor Galaxy quilt.
The center Color Wheel block is pieced using Bias Appliqué, no difficult curve piecing!
The Star Point, Piano Key, and Scattered Geese blocks are pieced using foundation paper piecing.
The Arrowhead blocks are pieced using raw-edge appliqué.
The Orange Peel blocks are pieced using turned-edge appliqué.
The Hexie Flower blocks are pieced using English Paper Piecing.
The corner background blocks are pieced using Improvisational Piecing.
Each block is machine quilted by itself and when all the blocks are complete the quilt is assembled using a binding quilt-as-you-go method.
